A subset of users on macOS 13 (Ventura) have reported the following error when updating to v27.3:
"Finale (Autoupdate).app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
This does not occur in all cases and is also not unique to Finale. Regardless, if this does occur, you should delete the Finale update installer and reinstall the full Finale installer, which will replace your Finale v27 copy with v27.3. This can be done without losing user-customized preferences, templates, or libraries per the following instructions:
- Delete the Finale update installer by clicking Move to Trash in the error message. If unable to do so, skip to step 2.
- Download the full Finale v27.3 installer from our website instead of updating in-app.
- Log into your account by clicking here.
- For more information, please see Downloading and installing Finale.
- After reinstalling Finale, quit all applications and restart your Mac.
- Relaunch Finale.
- Click the Finder icon
in the Dock.
- Choose Applications in the sidebar of the Finder window.
- Double-click the Finale application.
- Click the Finder icon
After reinstalling, Finale launches normally and is fully updated. If you have completed the steps above and still cannot launch Finale, please contact Customer Support by clicking Submit a request above.
