The SmartMusic application has only been written for and can only be supported on computers using the default (case insensitive) Apple file system format. This default includes Mac OS Extended (HFS+) with or without journaling.

Case sensitive file systems allow users to save multiple files of the same name in the same folder using differing cases for each letter. For example, the names "file," "File," and "FILE" can all be used within the same folder of a case sensitive volume. However, this prevents users and applications from opening or searching for files and directories without knowing the case for each character in the name.

If your computer is using a case sensitive file system, SmartMusic will fail to install and you will receive a "Missing or damaged SoundFonts" error message.
