Windows 10 and 11, Finale 27.3

Hi all,

I have used guitar playback very little, but I have a situation where I want the guitar to play back in slash notation but with only having to place a chord symbol (not the fretted icon) above the measure. For example:

In the first bar the guitar plays back the first eighth note, but in the second bar it plays back on every slash.
But, in order to get the playback in the 2nd bar, I have to put the chord symbol above each slash.
Is there a way to get the same playback using the notation in bar one?

Also, since we are here, how can I transpose the bar with the symbol changes, i.e. from DMaj7(9) to FMaj7(9), etc.

Thank you,
:-)
Vanessa

I’m pretty sure you have to enter the chords on each beat, as you’ve done in measure 2.

Hi Mike,

Yes, in bar two that was the only way to get them to play back. I did not want to have to show the chords on every slash, so I hid them.

What I hope to do is simply show the chord once in each bar and have all of the slashes play it back.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi, again,

In conjunction with this, in the key of C, I want to create a Cb chord, but it comes out B.
How can I change it to the enharmonic?

Is it possible to transpose the chord symbol, as I would any other measure with conventional notes?
For instance, I might have a bar with chord symbols and slash notation and wish to copy-and-paste the bar and transpose it.

I suppose that you are entering the chord symbol via Type Into Score - right?

You type Cb, and Finale changes it to B - right?

My advice:

Instead of changing the chord symbol after entry, enter the chord so that Finale displays it as Cb:

Type Dbbb.

To copy-and-paste only chord symbols:

Selection Tool.

Select the measure.

Edit menu > Edit Filter…

In the window Edit Filter, de-select everything except {Chords & Fretboards}.

To transpose chords:

Selection Tool.

Select the measure.

Utilities menu > Change… > Chords…

Hi Peter,

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

And, yes, I am shouting ;-)

Great detail--I would not have thought of Dbbb.
