This is a significant security failure. In the "is it OK for Finale to use the mic" dialog, the implication was that Finale would only use the mic for user-requested audio recordings, but that is clearly not the case: Finale is listening all the time. (For the record, I'm quite sure Finale is not intending to do anything malicious, but that really doesn't matter.) Finale should only start listening to the mic when a user-requested audio recording starts. And it should stop listening when that recording stops.

Again, you are absolutely wrong on this. I sent you to all the right places in the other thread including on how to report it to Apple in case that MakeMusic made a horrible programming error and it turned out you were right.

It may be desirable to have music apps have access to the microphone only when you want it but a significant security failure, it is not.

Ah. I have finally figured out how we are talking past each other. I do not care that Finale has access to the mic from launch to quit. I care that Finale actually actively listens to the mic that whole time. In my bedroom. All night.

So quit Finale when you aren't using it.

I already told you how to disable it in Security/Privacy and you confirmed that Finale still works with the mic disabled. There is no issue here.
