Hi,

When using common laptop keyboard shortcuts such as the changing note duration with Shift+Option+Control and the number corresponding to the note, Final crashes immediately. The problem is still persistent even when changing the shortcut. I am using Finale 25.2 OS Sierra 10.12.2, both latest versions. Has anyone else come across this problem?

Hi Saul,

Thanks for posting!

This is definitely a confirmed issue and as such has been reported to our developers. While I do not have a time frame for when the issue will be resolved - I do have a workaround. If you change the Simple Entry keyboard shortcut set to the Laptop Keyboard Shortcut Set, you can then just use the number row keys without the SHIFT+CMD+OPTION modifier keys and therefore avoid the crash.

You mentioned you may have tried something similar, so I wanted to verify, if you make this change and just use the number row keys (without the modifier keys) to change the note duration value, does the program still crash?

Here are some steps for changing to the Laptop Shortcut set if needed:

1. Open your Finale file.

2. Choose the Simple Entry tool.

3. Choose Simple Simple Entry Options.

4. The Simple Entry Options dialog box appears; click the Edit Keyboard Shortcuts button.

5. Choose the Laptop Keyboard Shortcut Set option from the drop-down menu in the lower portion of the Edit Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box.

6. Click OK.

Hope this helps!
