Finale 25.2.0.79, Mac OS X 10.11.6
Most people have issues with getting Garritan to work. I do not. However, when I elect to use SmartMusic SoftSynth instead, I get silence.
I've done a lot of reading and looking around. The MIDI configuration looks right. The Score Manager looks right.
This page, https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleMac/Content/Finale/Finale_Installation_Details.htm, says "Tip: To easily access support files located in ~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale, go to Documents/Finale Files and open the Finale shortcut"
When I do that, I actually go to ~/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale. However the SmartMusic SoftSynth Settings dialog has the location set as (it should) /Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale/Audio Support. The important difference here is that in the ~ version, there is no "Audio Support" subfolder, there is only an "Audio Units Support" subfolder, which is empty. The "Audio Support" subfolder (with the synthgms.sf2 file actually in it) is in the folder that the SmartMusic SoftSynth Settings dialog says.
I have no idea if that makes any difference, but ... considering that my core issue is that SmartMusic SoftSynth makes no sound, it was the only weird thing I could find.
