Hello everybody,
I just moved from Finale 2012, which worked great to Finale 25.... using a macbook pro with el capitan.
So i'm writing a composition for small orchestra.
I need to paste the bass clef part of the piano to the bass.

The score is in concert pitch. Finale pasting to a bass is a TOTAL MESS.

On the third bar, i transposed from the piano to bass, it worked BUT If i transposed third and fourth bar together, the transposition is wrong like in the fourth bar.

In the fourth bar as you can see finale transposed it wrong by 2 octaves! This is view in concert pitch.
the file i am using was created in finale 2012.

But in the next file i just created a new document in finale 25 and the wrong transposition is the same.

As you can see still view in concert pitch. I copied and pasted bar 1&2, bar 3, bar 4, bar 6&7

The only one that finale transposed right is bar 3, but if i copy and past bar 3 along with other bars the transposition is wrong too.

So it looks like finale transpose wrong to the bass by one or 2 octave. Except when you have a single note on the last octave of the bar, which finale will transpose correctly

It looks like a bug,

any thoughts?

any chance you guys are going to fix it quickly?

thanks

Sounds as if you are running afoul of a new feature in Finale v25.2:

  • Keep Octave Transposition in Concert Pitch has been added to the Document menu. This will allow C instruments that transpose by octave to maintain their transposition when Document > Display in Concert Pitch is selected.

Your results may also be affected (one way or the other by this Preference setting.

My advice is uncheck the item that J Adrian Verkouteren pointed out AS SOON AS YOU INSTALL FINALE and leave it off forever. I can't stand apps that think they know what I want better than I do, especially when it operates destructively like this. Your data should not be changed without your express permission.

I bet this one new feature has generated more tech support calls than any other new feature they have ever added.

Thanks so much Adrian!

It worked!

It is honestly mind boggling,  that they put as a default that function.

I mean how can you decide to default a function that behaves musically WRONG in a professional software...

I have no clue who could decide something so DUMB...

thanks for your help guys

This idiotic feature in 2014.5 cost me an extra two hours of red-faced manual transposition with a client watching patiently. Who would invent such a thing and then make it a default behaviour???
