I have a song that incrementally adds instruments.  I want voice only for the first verse. Voice + 1 instrument for the second verse. Voice + 2 instruments for the 3rd verse. Voice + 4 instruments for the 4th. Any way to do this? Or do I (really!) have to write 4 different scores, from the ground up?

In full Finale you assign all the staves you need from the start and then hide the (empty) staves until you need them. You do not say what program you are using, so whether you have this capability or not is uncertain.
