I am able to create eighth note and quarter note triplets with no problem.  However, I am stuck when I try to make one of the quarter notes in a quarter note triplet into 2 eighth notes.  I have attached a photo of what I want.  Any help is much appreciated. On a Mac 10.10.5, Finale 25.

I had no problem entering the triplets in either Simple or Speedy

In Simple I typed a quarter note (to set the unit) followed by typing 9 to indicate a triplet, and then filled in the remaining notes. I will admit that I have "Check for extra notes" disabled in Simple Entry Options.

In Speedy, I do not have "Check for extra notes" disabled. In Speedy I typed CTRL+3 to indicate each triplet and then just typed in the note values I wanted. No problem encountered.

I hope one of these options works for you.

Thank you Jadrian - both methods work for me.  Since I tend to use (at this point) Simple Entry most often, disabling "Check for extra notes" is what I needed to do when entering a triplet rhythm like this in Simple Entry. Problem solved - thank you!
