I am on v25 Mac now and I still get the same dreaded playback window issue I got since working with Finale '97. You can't be serious.

"Please enter a number between 1 and 1" in the playback controls.

I've been over this with the German support (formerly had German versions thru Klemm) and back then they told me it has something to do with the playback settings. BUT: if there are playback settings and I'd like to use them the way I need them to be, they should work. They should not give me error messages that make no sense at all.

Please fix!

I'm having the same problem. When I hit the "Stop" button, instead of stopping and going back to 1, it gives me that that same error message and I have to click on two error boxes to go back to 1.

I encountered this too, today. That's Finale. It's like that all the time...

The problem for me was the number of repeats in the playback.

Playback says “Repeat: 1“ which means Pass 1. When I pressed play it would randomly change to “Repeat: 2” (i.e. Pass 2) in the second bar. On stopping Playback would then display an error message because it changed the number 1 to 2 even though there are no repeats in the piece, hence the message “Please enter a number between 1 and 1”.

In Playback Options when I tick “Reset Repeats” it ignore repeats and this error. I can’t work out what the cause of this is though.

I've used Finale since version 1 and am still confused by the repeat options dialog box.

Happening to me too, years and years after I first read about it in forums.  Unbelievable. And there are not even any repeats in my current score!!!

I am using Mojave, but this is not a Mojave thing. I've experienced it in several systems.

What worked for me was to go to Playback/Record Options and, instead of "Ignore Repeats", check "Reset Repeats", but, as another user has mentioned, I have no idea WHY that works, or why the Playback Controls don't behave normally and predictably.

It's like this since Finale 1997.

I'm pretty sure it's not a bug. Someone, somewhere posted the explanation showing why but I don't remember the reason. It made sense when I read it, however.

Yes, I'm sure it makes sense to do this "Enter a number between 1 and 1" :)

Yup. Example number [insert large number] of MakeMusic getting distracted by the next “shiny” feature to include, instead of improving (fixing) and streamlining the most needed and used bread and butter tasks.

The farce progresses: I am on v27 and STILL randomly am fooled into clicking somewhere that spirals me into the loop of getting "Please enter a number between 1 and 1".

If decades of users trip over this stumbling block, it IS A BUG, by definition.

Let's not even get into the absurdity of a field that only accepts INTEGERS demanding a number "between 1 and 1". THERE IS NO INTEGER BETWEEN 1 and 1"!! Is that enough to get even the most skeptical apologist to say there is a bug here?

Go to Playback/Record Options and, instead of "Ignore Repeats", check "Reset Repeats"

Behavior is not a bug when working as intended.

Ok, you don't like the dialog box. What should display instead? If you are doing it correctly and get this, that's a Support issue. If you want to see something else, that's a Feature Request, I guess.

Did you read the manual pages about resetting repeats?
