Transpose Chords along with everything else, please.

When I transpose a certain section of a score using the Transpose Tool (usually in keyless situations or where no key change should appear) chord symbols are not being transposed along with the rest of the area.

I always have to go to Change->Chords->Transpose->OK (4 actions!) to have the chords line up with the rest of the score again.

I can't think of a common situation where all notes of a section are transposed but the chords remain the same - musically, this makes no sense at all.

If, however, you need the chords to stay the same although everything else will be transposed (will be interesting how that sounds) one could go the above way using the Change->Chords->Transpose->OK to transpose just the chords back to their original pitch. I doubt anyone will ever use this, though.

Please implement that. It has been a very questionable behaviour of Finale that I have to explain to my students over and over again. It makes no sense and is one of many unneccessary timekillers.

Hi All:

Great suggestion to optionally transpose notes and chords in one dialog box. I've documented as FIN-4518. We'd make it optional. If I copy music from Alto Sax 1 to 2 and transpose it, I wouldn't want to transpose the chords in a solo section, for example.

You can currently attach multiple chord symbols to a note. Press Shift + Up arrow to go to add another chord symbol. This is true on both mac and Win.

I strongly support Florian's idea! I write quite a lot keyless scores with chord symbols, and I could imagine anyone who writes for jazz orchestra is in the same situation quite often.

I often write in C, then change - it seems that my really old Finale (reeeeally old!) had no problem with this.

I also am looking for (haven't found) a way to put three sets of chords above the staff. I have the easy chords, the difficult chords and the Nashville-style chords that I use but are not totally Nashville so I have made my own symbols. (for instance 2 3 6 are minor unless otherwise noted, etc)

Three sets of chords would be a separate request. Perhaps you should list it separately; I think others might be interested in thinking about that.

I concur with this feature request.

Be able to transpose both notes and chords (symbols) with the *same* "Utilities > Transpose" function. It's a waste of time to transpose chords in Utilities>Change>Chords, while transposing notes in Utilities>Transpose.

99% of the time, one would want to transpose notes and chords in tandem.

If one wished to transpose only notes or only chords, that could be an option box to check or uncheck in the same Transpose window. Thx.
