I have just begun running my Finale 2014 on a SP4 - I love it.  However, if I go to edit an individual part off of a score,  I do not have the option of using Simple Note, Speedy Note, or Hyperscribe.  They are all grayed out.  They are NOT grayed out if I have the whole score up, though.

Could this be a Surface Pro glitch?  Has anyone else experienced this?  Thanks, Julie

Hi Julie,

Thanks for posting!

Do those parts happen to have a particular voicing specified? You can check this by opening the Manage parts dialog box (Document > Manage Parts), and then selecting a part from the left-hand side and clicking the Edit Part Definition >> button (if it is already selected it will say Hide Part Definition <<).

If you have the Specify voicing option selected, you will not be able to use the note entry tools in linked parts, but you can do so in your score. You can also extract that part(s) (File > Extract Parts) and edit that part as its own document, but in most cases I would recommend avoiding that if possible.
