I am writing a large score and the top 2 lines have developed a strange key switch problem. I set the key switch at the beginning of the score and both parts will play it normally including any new switches as long as it plays continuously. If I let these parts play to a break in the parts and then stop, when I resume playing their key switch is not on. If I include another switch right before they start again it works unless I stop playing the score and then they are off again. This only happens to the top 2 lines but i have to keep adding the same switch before each entrance because it is not retained. What i have noticed is that when I resume playing in either of these 2 lines the key switch jumps to another deactivated switch and jumps back to the original but there is nothing in the score to cause that to happen.

and suggestions?

OS is windows 10

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear this has been happening to you. This sounds like you will need to do one of two things in this order.

First you'll want to clear your MIDI Data:

1. Choose the Selection tool.
2. Choose Edit > Select All.
3. Choose Edit > Clear Selected Items.
4. Click the None button.
5. Select MIDI Data.
6. Click OK.

If that does not fix it, it may need to be exported and imported as a MusicXML. Here is how you can do that.

1. Open your document in Finale.
2. Choose File > Export > MusicXML.
3. Save your document as an XML file to your desktop.
4. Choose File > Close.
5. Choose File > Import > MusicXML. Select the file you just saved to the desktop and click Open.
6. Choose File > Save As to save the new document as a Finale file and give it a new filename.
7. Once the new Finale file has been saved, you can delete the XML file from your desktop.

If you are still having issues after this you'll want to submit a support request here
