I am using Finale 2014.5 with Windows 10 to arrange old music for my brass band. Some of our music is written in two staves with two voices each, some music is written in four staves with one voice each. Is there a smart way to change between these two types?

  1. Convert the secondary part's staff to layer 2.
  2. Choose layer 2. (ALT-SHIFT-2)
  3. Use ALT-SHIFT-S to hide the inactive layer(s). Layer 1 on upper staff should disappear.
  4. Select and drag the contents of the secondary staff up to the first.
  5. Use ALT-SHIFT-S to show both layers again.
  6. Select the secondary staff and use a Staff Style to hide it (collapse version). (I'd hide the staff rather than deleting it just in case I need it later to generate a separate part.)

Thanks ADRIAN for the fast reply! Basically this is the same way I do it up to now, but from your post I could learn two things: the key kombinations (I usually did this by mouse) and the hiding of the "empty" staff (usually I deleted it).

I just hoped, there would be a "secret hidden function" or a macro or something similar.

Thanks!!
