Hello,

I want to type Vietnamese lyrics into my score but Finale will not take the builtin keyboard for Mac OS X Sierra (10.12.3). In other words the normal way

I type Vietnamese outside in Texedit or my email is not recognized when I typed in the same way either by typing in the score directly or in a lyric windows.

Now if I cut and paste the text from outside and paste it in the lyrics window, w/ the font setting it displays it perfectly. Somewhere I read on the Finale web site,

Finale now supports Unicode which is what I use. Either Arial or Times Roman are unicode fonts from what I understand (because they type ok in email).

I am using Finale 2014.5.7079 for Mac OS X.

The keyboard i use is Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt) using keyboard method VIQR (when you add a language in the Mac preferences -> Languages)

VIQR means composing the following phrase:

Tôi yêu tiếng nước tôi từ khi mới ra đời, mẹ hiều ru những câu xa vời

(translation: I love my language since i was born from (hearing) mother singing lullaby of far away words....)

consists of typing the following sequence on the keyboard:

To^i ye^u tie^'ng nu+o+'c to^i tu+` khi mo+'i ra ddo+`i, me. hie^`n ru nhu+~ng ca^u xa vo+`i

I'm just citing it in case you want to type it in the lyrics windows to see if the keyboard typing will show them....

Please help. I don't want to switch to Sibelius....

It seems that I have found a solution to type Vietnamese Unicode VIQR style in Finale. I downloaded the keyboard layout from this site

and installed in on my Mac (OS X Sierra 10.12.3) and now I can type Vietnamese in the lyrics window or type into score:

Cheers. I'm happy again.
