I am a Swedish Composer and I want to buy the latest Finale program from you to be able write down my Music, listen to it, and print out scores and parts from it. I Think the Finale 25 will be best, don´t you? Also, I have so far - I´m sorry to say - only used version "Finale 2003" for all of my compositions. My question is: Can I transmit the scores from the "Finale 2003" to the latest version of Finale (Finale 25) - which I am now intending to buy?

I thank you,
Staffan Forser, composer

Going straight from F2003 to Finale v25 will involve a lot of catch-up learning. So be sure to make the switch when you have plenty of time to watch the QuickStart videos, look through the tutorials, and play with the program a lot. I am happy with v25, but I have upgraded each version and still would not switch in the middle of an important project with a strict deadline.

You will also likely have to do clean-up on the F2003 files. Expressions are now broken into categories with different Score Lists and font/positioning settings. While you still have F2003, save your files as XML (via the Dolet plug-in downloadable from MM's web site) and PDF (for a visual reference) in addition to the default .mus file format. And keep F2003 around as long as you can (even if on a separate, seldom-used machine) just in case.

Finale v25 is a good program. Hope the transition goes as smoothly as possible for you.
