Moved to Finale 2014.5 from Allegro on 27" iMac running OS X 10.12.1.  Trying to clean up simple 2 part piece by combining 4 empty measures into one multi measure rest.  Selected 4 measures as instructed and followed instructions but it combined the 4 measures into a double measure rest and two single measure rests.  Can someone explain how I can combine them into one?  Screen shot attached.

Check each break in the multimeasure rests to be sure the "break multimeasure rest" is unchecked.

J Adrian,  Your solution worked, and your graphics are outstanding.  The "Break a multi measure break" box was not checked, but instead had a minus sign (that appeared mysteriously while I was working on the file).  One click changed the minus sign to a checkmark.  A second click cleared the box and combined the rest measures.  Thanks for your help!

Some barlines, like double bars and (we now know) solid bars, automatically add the "break multimeasure rests" attribute to the measure.
