I just installed Finale Version 25.3 on Windows 10 to evaluate the current version.  I thought it was strange that the tutorial videos had no sound.  Then I tested Finale playback and had no sound.  Then I tried Spotify and I got music unavailable messages. Then I tried iTunes to test locally stored music files, but they wouldn't play.  Rebooted the system, and iTunes and Spotify played as usual.  Restarted Finale and playback didn't work. ITunes and Spotify didn't work.  System sound testing produced no sound. Closed Finale, and then iTunes, Spotify, and system sound volume testing worked. What is going on with this version of Finale that takes over my sound system?  Is it because this Finale installation is not yet authorized?

The Finale Demo should not need authorization (or did you buy the version you are evaluating?)

You might try dowloading the demo again (using a browser other then Chrome). I do not recall anyone else mentioning this sound problem. (I know Dorico can grab exclusive control of the sound card, but Finale in my experience does not.)

Same thing happening to me! Did this get resolved? Could it be my sound system is outdated? This has never happened to me but is now T_T

This is a 5 year old thread. You might want to start your own new one with Finale 27.2. We need to know what system and what Finale. On Windows machines there is a setting where you can check/uncheck a box for allow applications to take exclusive control of the sound device. Press Windows+R>select Properties>Advanced tab.
