The next update in the Finale Version 25 series, Finale v25.4, has been released today (6/29/2017). This update is a free maintenance update for all owners of Finale v25. Finale v25.4 focuses on increasing stability for Finale and setting the groundwork for the future. Work has been done to remove some troublesome program errors such as:

 

  • (Windows) An issue that would prevent authorization from working properly when opening files from certain locations on your computer.
  • Setup Wizard related crashes.
  • (Mac) Crashes that would occur when using COMMAND+OPTION+SHIFT key combinations.
  • (Windows) Crashing when using the Expression tool that would necessitate a reset of preferences.
  • (Windows) Crashing due to numerous installed editing plugins.
  • (Windows) Crashing related to Pro Tools 12 DLL conflict.
  • and more!

 

This update also includes some new functionality such as support for MusicXML 3.1, rounded corners on enclosures, and the ability to prevent showing naturals when cancelling key signatures between sharp and flat keys.

I have Finale 25 and I have just upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. While troubleshooting some issues, I found out that there have been several free maintenance releases for this version, like 25.2, 25.3, 25.4, etc. I never knew these were done, and when I go to the website or check for updates through the Finale program, it just gives me the option that I have to purchase Finale 26. Some of the issues that the maint. releases improve may help me after going to Windows 10.  Why am I denied these free Finale 25 updates? When I try and submit a request, I get a message that there is no longer support available to me, and no one ever answers the phone and the message there is to submit a request. I love the software, but right now am I none too happy.

If you login to your account on Finalemusic.com, you can download the latest version of whatever software you have purchased. The last update to Finale ver. 25 on Windows was 25.5.

What George wrote. To clarify, when you download from your MM User account, you always get the latest release of whatever version you purchased beginning with Finale 2012. Finale version updaters haven’t existed since 2011.

 

The answer you received from Support doesn’t make sense. Finale 25 is still supported as far as I know. You should have been told to just download the latest version to get 25.5.

 

Perhaps you asked specifically for 25.4?
