Hi,

I'm running a PC with Windows 10 with Aria/Garritan (Aria is up-to-date); but I have two icons on the desktop.

I have been running this with Encore (a 32 bit notation programme), and that seems to be compatible with both instances (via my desktop icons) of playing.  Am I supposed to have the two icons and what's the difference (I have been assuming one is 64 bit and the other 32 bit - but when I looked at Properties for each they appear the same???)  (I can provide a copy of the Properties if there's somewhere to attach them).

I now have Sibelius and having a problem getting Aria/Garritan to work - so probably need to get this question sorted first.

The Icons are for standalone hosts.  You are correct that one is likely for the 32bit version, and the other for a 64bit version.  Unless you're on a 32bit OS that can't run the 64bit version, might as well use the 64bit one, as it can use more RAM when needed.

When it comes to hosting ARIA inside Sibelius, those icons are irrelevant.  On Windows Systems, Sibelius will host ARIA as a VST  'plugin'.

If Sibelius doesn't already offer ARIA as a plugin in his playback configuration settings, then you'll need to tell Sibelius to scan the folders where you had the ARIA Installer put his dll plugins, or move them to a directory that already gets scanned.  I believe that Sibelius offers an option to add plugin directories at will.

Unless you told the installers otherwise, ARIA usually puts plugins in the following locations:

64bit plugins go into:

"%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files\VSTPlugins\Garritan"

While 32bit plugins go into:

"%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\Garritan"

Unless you're running pretty old versions of Sibelius, chances are you're running a 64bit host.
