Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way in Finale 2014.5 on a Mac to only hide staves when they're not in use (in a full orchestral score), and 'condense' the score by repositioning the music, etc.

My current circumstance - I'm orchestrating a theme & variations.  The initial theme is scored for woodwind quintet, first variation is scored for strings only (as examples for this post).  I want to hide all staves not being used (brass, strings, percussion, etc) until they're introduced as the orchestration moves along - and I also want to move the music over in the places where those hidden staves are to save page space because It doesn't make sense to have full score pages with a ton of empty measures.

I've tried to delete staves & reposition, but I lose the entire staff.  Whenever I hide the staves, that empty space where the staff was still exists.

Has anyone worked out a way to hide the staves and reposition staves in this manner?  Is it possible in this version of Finale?

Thanks for any help!

You use Hide Empty Staves. That should close up the space between them.
