I want to quicken the attack speed of each note when using the GOS Violins KS patch for playing non-slurred passages.  Using Aria or Finale 25, GPO5 GOS strings have a minimum swell time into each note that keeps the volume of the passage very low.   I have used the ADSR knobs in Aria, still not fast enough attack.  If I key switch to marcato, or something else, then the notes obviously won't sustain.  Please advise.   I can also submit a Finale file which demonstrates the situation.

Try sending CC119.

CC119 at lower values plays more of the attack (0 plays full attack).
Higher values (127 max) plays less of it (starts playing later in the sample, where amplitude is higher).

For the legacy strings, key-velocity amount seems to have a similar effect.  I've a theory that if desired, one could edit the sfz file and change this CC to key-velocity instead of CC119, more like the legacy strings did.

If you still can't get the desired effect, you might can build a completely new layer (key-switching or CC called) in the sfz file that uses more choice portions of the sample, as well as other ARIA Engine abilities to shape up the sound.

As of May 11, 1017 I started a thread offering my personal alternative Human Playback Techniques for Finale.  It comes attached to a Schubert Scherzo for strings.

One nice thing about this profile is that it allows mixing and matching the Legacy GPO strings with the new GOS strings without as many annoying conflicts between the two.  It also makes a few choices quite differently from what the defaults were doing.  Take a close look at them, and by all means change them up and to things to suite your own needs.
