 OS 10.12.3 MAC

Every time I import an xml file into Finale 25.3 which include chords and play it back, the chords also play back.

This interferes with listening to the melody.

I know that I can turn off chord playback from the chord menu but the default behaviour seems to be  always to play the chords.

How can I make the default behaviour not to play the chords?

I think that maybe I have to make a default template file but I am not sure how to do that.

Hi Derek,

 

One thing you could do is create a template (any template you'd like) and then use the import MusicXML into current document if empty feature (new beginning in Finale v25.2) You can find the option to import a MusicXML file into an open, empty template in the MusicXMLPreferences dialog box (File > Import > MusicXML Preferences).
