Hello, I'm experiencing problems when entering more than one verse in music where the lyrics are written using hard spaces, i.e. many words to one note. For the first verse, I've moved the breves (double whole notes) to the left of the bar in Speedy Note Entry as I prefer them there, with the beginning of the text. I also aligned the text manually at the beginning of the bar. The problem occues when I enter a second verse underneath: notes jump to their original location (somewhat), text has many overlaps and both verses aren't aligned vertically any more. Any solutions to setting up this sort of music and text to have both long notes and text at the beginning of the bar for every verse? Thanks. Darquise

I use Windows 10 and Finale version 25.

I had little difficulty (if this is what you wish)

I selected the Adjust Lyrics option, chose the handle of the first stanza recitative, and chose Align Left from the Lyrics menu.

Hope that can work for you.

(Now if I can just spell early correctly.)

Thank you, Adrian. I shall try this later, as things have got worse instead of better between sending the post and receiving your reply. I'll let you know how I get on. By the way, did you manually place the breve at the beginning of the bar, or was it done through a specific setting?

The breve automatically placed itself at the left of the measure. As far as I know, that is the default.

All seems fine, now, although not without some trouble. Writing a verse in scroll view and switching to page view sometimes produced notes and text displaced to the previous bar, a total mess. I solved it using the long way round: in the end, I wrote the two bars I needed with hard spaces on a separate document, as I think that all the problems I had in the original document may have "contaminated" the two bars in question with too much information. So, I deleted the faulty bars in the original document and pasted the two "pristine" ones, one at a time, in the original document. So far, so good... I've immediately made a PDF copy for safety.

I'm sure there's a simpler way but, for now, it will do!

Thank you for your help.
