I have FinalePrintMusic2014.5 with SmartScoreLite. I imported the tiff file, typed in the lyrics, saved it, then also saved it to my desktop.  When I try to open the musx file, nothing happens.  Cannot open it although I attached it as a file to someone who also has the same software and she opened it with no problem.

Mac OS Sierra

Help!  I spent too much time with this to start losing files.

Have you asked the recipient of your file to send it back (or looked in your sent e-mails) to see if you can retrieve a working copy?

Have you tried opening Finale first and then asking it to open the file on your desktop? Be sure to save the working file in Finale format explicitly, just as a precaution.

I always open Finale first to look for the most recent - in this case, it was only one day old. I eventually decided to close PM and reopen and then found a back-up (bak) file through my Mac Finder app. When I click 'Save' - is that the Finale format? Or do I have to choose something else in 'Save as?' Thanks.
