Just wondering if anyone had a reason why Finale won't show up in the input channel on the aux channel strip within Logic Pro X?  I'm trying to rewire / slav Finale to LPX and don't even see the Finale software show up within Logic...any reason why?

I found the problem! Some file was missing or some action from the rewire was needed. I installed reason trial and it fixed the problem. Know Finale and Reason appears at the auxiliary channel's input option!!

which file was missed? I have the same problem as you have....i am not able to find rw-finale at the input pop up menu

A lot has changed in the last 4 years: Propellerhead is now Reason Studios. The Rewire code is depreciated and no longer available from them.

Apple products (Logic, MainStage, GarageBand, FinalCut Pro) still install Rewire components and Finale can talk to many apps through CoreAudio.

I've only been able to make this work one way with Finale as the Master and Digital Performer as the Slave—still works with DP 11, Finale 27 over a fresh install of Monterey. Since DP no longer supports RW, the communication is done through CoreAudio if any of those Apple apps are installed (GarageBand is free). According to MOTU, this is Mac only and won't work over Windows.

No one is having success with Finale as the slave for the same reason you aren't. I don't know what file was missing other than you can't get it anymore from Reason Studios. If there's a solution to this, I don't know it.

I haven't checked my wife's M1 to see if GB still installs the necessary RW components to see if this works over Apple Silicon but I know what to look for and where.

From the Help Files:

 Logic

If your preferences haven’t been setup for a ReWire device, use the following steps:

  1. Launch Logic.
  2. Create a new project or open an existing one.
  3. Select Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio.
  4. Select the Device tab, if not already selected. Use the ReWire Behavior popup menu to choose Playback Mode (Less CPU Load). Click Apply Changes.

If these options aren’t listed under Audio, select Advanced > Show Advanced Tools and Audio and follow step 4 again.

  5. Close the Preferences dialog box and restart Logic for the changes to take effect.

Once the preferences have been set and a project is open, use the following steps to setup Finale as a slave:

    1. Click the Mixer button . The Mixer appears.
    2. Selection Options > Create New Auxiliary Channel Strip. An aux channel appears.
    3. Use the Input popup menu to choose Finale > RW:Mix-L/R and raise the fader for the aux channel.

  1. Launch Finale and open a document (File > Open). The Playback Controls have changed.

Simple and Speedy Entry are supported in ReWire mode but note entry does not produce any sound. To hear changes made within Finale, click the Re-Sync Score Data Button  when using your DAW to control playback. Clicking Play in the Playback Controls automatically update Finale's playback in ReWire mode.

Play Finale Through MIDI is not supported. Make sure to select Play Finale Through Audio Units and Reassign Playback Sounds from the MIDI/Audio menu before moving to the next step.

  2. Click the Play button  in Logic or in Finale's Playback Controls. Finale is now acting as an audio device with Logic.

I have the same issue here.

MIKE HALLORAN I did the whole process that you indicate, but the problem is:

Finale doesn't show at Input on Auxiliary Channel.

Although I have Finale 25 and Logic, I never use the two together. I pasted in the documentation.

I notice that Logic Pro got a big update to 10.4 and it had a slew of new features and bug fixes. After I ran the update on my system, I went to the Library Manager and it downloaded 25G of additional libraries and sounds.

I would run that update and, if there's still a problem, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page to contact MM Tech Support directly.

I updated Logic to 10.4, i unistalled it and resintalled twice. I did the same with Finale. And also, i contacted the support from MM.
I contacted the Logic Support and nobody knows what to do.

Someday I'll find the solution.

Apple doesn't advertise but they have phone support. If the problem is Logic as I suspect, they may be able to help.  In addition, there are many user and support sites for Logic. Someone is going to know the workaround or where the documentation is flat out wrong (some of those help files refer to procedures that haven't worked since OS 10.4—I'm not kidding). With Logic, there's always a workaround. Google is your friend.

I have the same problem since I'm on a M1. Somehow there is no rewire since I installed Finale 27 and the newest version of Logic. If anyone finds the solution it will be much appreciated. I'll go on and try to find out why it's not working anymore. If I find it I'll post the solution to this problem.
