I'd like to have the flexibility to easily notate playable metronome markings for "irregular" meters like 3/8, 5/8, 7/16, etc.  Finale tech support's John H gave me a workaround, but it is relatively tedious. Such "irregular" meters are common and Finale's metronome marking procedure shouldn't be so antiquated.

Hi Roger:

Thank-you for posting your request. Kudos to Jeffery and Adrian for making suggestions on how to address this in addition to John in CS. Unfortunately, we do not plan to make changes to the application in this area.

Please be more specific. One can already set the MM marking for an eighth, or a dotted quarter.

In 5/8, for example, the metronome marking for a fast tempo taken in one requires a metronome marking of a dotted eighth tied to a quarter note or a half-note tied to an eighth that plays back at the desired tempo. At slower tempos, you can use the metronome marking and playback based on an eighth note. This Finale problem doesn't exist in "regular" meters,.

This isn't a Finale problem, the issue is there's no single note value to represent 5/8 or 7/16. I would suggest including the rhythmic subdivision (2+3, 3+2, 2+2+3, etc...) and basing the metronome marking off of that.
