As said in title – the same tool that allows aligning SmartShapes, could be used in expressions.

Hi Oskar:

Thank you for the suggestion; kudos to Peter and Adrian for pointing out current functionality. We do have a story to improve default behavior of expressions and hairpins snapping to the same baseline. I've added your comments to FINl-4829 on the topic.

The included TG Tools include alignment for expressions, which means this is not a needed features request.

The plug-in is called Align/Move Dynamics (not Align/Move Expressions).

Can the plug-in move all expressions - or does it only move expressions from the expression category Dynamics?

Peter, you are correct. I was thinking of dynamics--and of course that plug-in does not even do that for percussion layouts (for perhaps understandable reasons).

the tgtools align/move dynamics seems to act only upon hairpins not upon dynamics... is that correct?

Finale 2014 behaves correctly
Finale 25 doesn’t!

I suppose that you mean TG Tools Align/Move Dynamics, not Finale, right?

Finale is 64-bit.

In Finale 25 you need the updated 64-bit version of TG Tools.

You are not trying to use an older version of TG Tools in Finale 25?

TGTools in Finale 25 works for me. As Peter Thomsen states above, you must have the latest version.

sorry... it was my fault!

thanks to Tobias I discovered that many of my expressions were labeled under the Miscellaneous category instead under the Dynamics category (compulsory for the different tgtools to work effectively)...

merry Xmas again

Sorry to reopen this discussion.

It seems to me that using a 3rd party plugin to align a few dynamics is a super cumbersome way of accomplishing that task.

Any modern software would have some sort of "right click-> align" or a menu item, or something one could do just as easily (something I could assign to a keyboard shortcut, for instance). Even pieces of software that are NOT meant for typesetting or printing still have alignment methods. The fact that Finale doesn't have them (after all its years of history) is rather alarming.

So – yes, Michael, you need to (largely) improve the default behavior of placement. But before doing that, please just add a few lines of code to give a simple possibility to align dynamics manually. That's the bare minimum, in my opinion.
