I have a single, 8-beat note that I'm trying to fade to zero.  Can't figure out how.  Anybody know?

Peter,

One way you could fade a held note is to scale the CC #7 (Volume) controller message down from a value to zero using the MIDI tool. You will need to do this later on in your process when you can apply Human Playback (so it doesn't overwrite your manually entered MIDI data every time you playback) and then edit the Continuous MIDI data with Human Playback applied and auto-processing off (MIDI/Audio > Human Playback > None).

You can apply Human Playback using the MIDI Tool, and you can scale CC 7 by selecting the region of measures in the staff you want to alter, choosing to edit Continuous Data in the MIDI Tool menu, and then scaling (Scale) the data from a value (127 is the highest, so maybe 80?) down to 0.

Geza,

You may want to contact our support team directly for questions about authorization problems. You can do so using the Submit a request link at the top of this page. I have removed some personal information from your post. For your security, please avoid posting personal information (serial numbers, email addresses, etc.) on the forum.

I hope this information helps!
