For whatever reason, Finale crashes after converting my files into audio files. Don't always remember to save my work before hand, so I turned on the autosave feature to save every ten minutes. Today, it crashed after converting to an audio file, and apparently the autosave does not work. I cannot find a single trace of an autosaved file within the past month on my computer, and it is absolutely frustrating. Can someone help me find these files so that I don't have to completely redo my work?

First, Windows 10 updated (invisibly) on my machine in the past 24 hours; that may have affected yours as well. You didn't say what OS you are using.)

I have also found that my AUDIO driver has been defaulting to ASIO, so I have to reset it to DirectSound for each document. If I do not, my exports to WAV format fail and Finale has to restart. The program does not fail when I use DirectSound.

Hope those observations are helpful to you.

Edit | Preferences | Folders -- find our where they are stored currently, or change where they will be in the future.

Joey,

The folder Dean refers to looks like this.

Also make sure you have asked for auto-saved backups.

Audio Driver was already set to DirectSound. Backups have been saved for files that I currently have open, but not the ones last night that were lost.

Have you checked the "Auto-save" checkbox as well for periodic backups while you are working?

(I don't because they seemed to interrupt my writing, and I'd suddenly look at the screen and see that several notes I meant to add were skipped while the program did the Auto-save; but I have not tried that with my new, faster machine, so perhaps that would not be a problem for me now.)

I checked it to auto save every 10 minutes. It used to be that Finale would ask to open the files that I was working on when it crashed, but it’s almost like it deletes them instead.
