Lawton,

Thank you for this. I hope this will encourage more forum users to click on their name in the gray band at the top of the screen and edit their Profile to add info about their Finale version and computer Operating System to the Description box at the bottom of their Profile. That will make it easier to help each other right off the bat.

No problem!

This is definitely something we've wanted to add for awhile. I would highly encourage all who post to add a little bit about themselves, their operating system, and version(s) of Finale to the description field in their profile. As Adrian mentioned, one's description can be accessed by clicking [user's name] > My profile at the top of the page , and then the Edit Profile button on the next screen.

As a side note, if an issue affects a particular operating system or version of Finale, it is still wise to state that in one's post.

Have a great week everyone!

Can the ability to attach Finale files be far behind? I'm sure you're aware of the fact that many members of the old Finale Forum do not participate here because of this very problem. We are used to good communication and key to this is the ability to post Finale files to illustrate the more abstract aspects of using Finale and of music notation.

The ability to attach Finale files (and other non-image file types) is something we would like to add as well! For transparency's sake, we are currently unable to add that feature due to some of the restrictions placed on file attachments in the community framework. However, we are certainly open to adding it in the future if it becomes technically possible.

I know that it is a big gap in functionality, and that being able to add Finale file types would help further the discussions on this community, so I do hope to see this change happen down the road.

Thank you all for your input on this topic!

Lawton,

Presumably you or someone in your office monitors what competitors are doing. I notice one forum has found that having users zip their music-data files allows their BBS software to accept them as attachments. Don't know if that is a solution for the Zendesk system or not.

BTW, thank you for responding to my initial post.

Yep. I just created a test file and saved it as .zip, .xml, .mus, .musx, .jpg, .png and .pdf. Only the .png and .jpg will upload here. Often, the best way to help is to look at a file and see the mistake that's being made. I'm certain that this is preaching to the choir.

Another thing that would help is if we who post frequently had access to PrintMusic. Otherwise, we are guessing when we post, Well, in Finale, it.... This should be very easy to justify to Marketing—Adrian, Peter and I save MM how much in $upport (and does anyone really want to go there)?

I don't mind helping but there's a limit to my generosity. Just sayin'...
