I would like to see Finale have a ribbon interface using Meta Tools as tabs. I use it all the time in Microsoft and my Sibelius. It would help find program functions faster. Ribbon was developed for Notebooks and tablets with limited mousing "right-click", etc. I love Finale though and look forward to future updates and functions.

Also thank you for keeping Finale as a purchase and not subscription. I'm dropping Sibelius because, being retired I can't afford to continue my license.

To all best regards,

Dear Hadley and all,

Thank you for posting your request. While I agree that Finale needs to modernize the interface, both on Macintosh and Windows, I don't anticipate us heading towards an exclusive Ribbon approach. There are many things we can do to improve workflow, navigation, interaction with the OS, support for multiple monitors, iconography, etc. without forcing a workflow or making the process more linear. That is the direction I would see us going.

And yes, we have no plans to move away from a perpetual license at this time.

A mandatory ribbon interface would be an incredibly compelling way to force me towards Dorico. IMO the ribbon interface steals screen space and hides as many (sophisticated) options as it reveals.

(Sorry to disagree with the OP.)

The Ribbon interface could have a turn-off feature, like Libreoffice does. Libreoffice has both features.

I agree with J Adrian. I get around quite fast in the current interface. Although, I do think improvements could be made (especially in the Smart Shape Custom Line selection department).

Personally, I hate the ribbon interface in Sibelius. It's great in MS Office apps though.
