In trying to load Brian Roland's soundset for GPO5 for use with Sibelius, I now have something that keeps on coming up, and I have no idea how to get rid of it:

Any ideas?  Windows 10

I've not seen these sorts of messages before.

Does ARIA Load/work at all?

If not in Sibelius, does ARIA work in Stand Alone or from other hosts?

Do you get these messages if you remove my sound-set and start Sibelius?

Aria player loads.... I never use it as a stand-alone, and in fact have no other use for it other than to work with Sibelius.  As a result, I'm afraid that I don't even know how to use it by itself.  To date, I have bought Garritan sounds and they've worked with Sibelius (except for the Pipe Organ Sounds which I've never got to work either), so haven't had a problem.  Nor do I have any idea how to bring the Pipe Organ sounds into Sibelius for 'Manual sounds' - which apparently you can do.

I haven't dared to remove your sound-set as it took me so long to install it in the first place, and I've completely failed to install it on the Mac that I mainly use.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the messages above are due to ARIA/Garritan plugins and accompanying Sibelius soundsets.

I'd suggest posting your inquiry on the Sibelius help forum if you have not already.

You can find the forum here:  http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?groupid=3

To install soundsets on a Mac see this link (The references to Version 7 still apply for version 8 and up):

I'm 100% sure that the problem started at exactly the same time as the install, but, other than the fact that this 'bean factory' comment keeps appearing, if I just ignore it, it doesn't seem to create any other problems.

I googled "org.springframework.beans.factory.UnsatisfiedDependencyException: Error creating bean with name 'databaseServicesEventHandler" and there was a lot of stuff about what it was, with several solutions to it that went so far over my head, that I almost gave up the will to live.

Thanks for the Mac info.; I'll take a look.

Ah yes, I have already tried the Mac link you suggest, and the directory they suggest doesn't exist on my Mac (viz.:

  • Mac OS X: /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/Sounds

I reach the 'your username' bit, and there's no 'Library' there.

I can do /Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7 ..... but then reach a blank.

If I click on 'Sibelius' above the 'Sibelius 7' folder, there's nothing in it.

If I try 'Sibelius Sounds' and then carry on to 'Libraries' I get:

I'm wondering if that stuff might go away if you were to reinstall the latest "Avid Application Manager".

Uninstall just the Avid Application Manager, download the latest version and install it.

To get to the uninstaller tap the windows key, type in control panel, then click control panel in the start menu.  From there click into the "Programs and Features Icon".  Locate the "Avid Application Manager".  Double click it and uninstall.

You can find the latest version to reinstall here:  http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/Avid-Application-Manager

I'll have a go, but the help desk at Sibelius did a remote-access with my computer and re-installed the App. Manager on the PC.  However, I'll give it another go.

Ah, I've just seen your other comment also, re. thewritescore.  Their suggested directory paths don't agree with my Mac either, so it looks as though I have to create a directory path.  I'll try it over the w/e.

Incidentally, on the other matter I mentioned, do you have a sound set for Pipe Organs?

Don't overlook the part about some directories being 'hidden', and how to unhide them.

On the Classic Pipe Organs Library...

No, I've not done a soundset for that Library.  What little I have used it with Sibelius, I've made manual sound-sets.

Thanks for the link; I'll take a look.

It looks as though I'm going to have to face the manual sound-set learning curve....

It's not too difficult to make a manual sound set.

Once you grasp the SoundWorld naming convention it starts to make sense.  It's easy to change ranks on the fly.

When you want various combinations of ranks, you can set several of them to the same MIDI Channel and in ARIA itself.  If you are trying to emulate a really large instrument and 16 instrument slots are not enough, then you can always load more ARIA instances to get what you are after.

Also, since you have GPO5, take a look at the nice new organ consoles that come with that.  You get a lot of nice tools for setting up ranks as you want them, and you can control those with CC messages typed directly onto your score and hidden.  I.E.  Adding a playing technique to a stave and typing "~C17,90" will cause Sibelius to set CC17 to 90, and so on. http://www.sibelius.com/helpcenter/resources/midi_messages.pdf
