Finale version 2014.5.7098
1. How can I enter a different note in one layer without breaking the other layers? For example, if I enter an triplet on layer one it creates the triplet and then if I enter two eighth notes or another grouping on layer two then either the triplet on layer one is broken or altered into a different note ? How can I enter a triplet or other grouping on layer one and either a triplet or other grouping on layer two without altering the notes entered and intended?
2. Another question is I have entered a rhythm in 3 /4 but it has additional notes , how can this be if I am in 3/4? If you look at my screenshots submitted it shows 4 beats including the triplet patterns? !! How can this be?
3. In the same layer , I am unable to enter different voicing on the same layer without breaking it as well? For example , in drum set music if I intend to create a triplet and use the 1st and 3rd part of the triplet on line 1 and intend to play the HH on the bottom line then the triplet on first line is disrupted and breaks the triplets and turn it into plain 8th notes or whatever Finale decides to turn it into?
Although it is possible to overload a measure under certain conditions, I am not sure I understand what you mean in point 2.
