I am a recorder enthusiast and have written many pieces for it. I find that while the soprano/sopranino. tenor, and bass/great bass recorder sounds are excellent, they are incompatible in sound quality with the alto recorder voice, especially in its lowest register.  Some recorders produce a reedy sound (indeed a small minority of players prefer that sound).  The rest of us prefer a clear tone (e.g., listen to the Garritan tenor recorder voice). The alto recorder voice supplied by Garritan is very reedy and stands out markedly in ensemble arrangements in an unaesthetic manner.  I usually have to resort to making arrangements for other instruments when burning CDs. I would like to respectfully request that it be resampled using a clearer instrument.  Thank you for your consideration.

I run Windows 10 and have Finale 25.4, although the problem has existed for years over many versions.

I enjoy building simple instruments for personal use at times (currently nothing on a commercial scale, or that I'd charge anyone for).

Do you happen to play Recorder?

If you'd be interested in sending me some recordings of you (or a cooperative colleague) playing some scales (long sustained tones, multiple times, using different attacks and articulations) I could attempt to build you a replacement sfz file using your samples.

If you can play, and would like to team up on attempting to build a patch let me know and I'll arrange to get you my email address.

I would definitely be interested.  I have several good von Heune alto recorders (Rippert), but should probably send it/them for cleaning before any recording is started. For what it's worth, I also have lower (Paetzold contrabass) and higher pitched instruments than those currently listed.

I also know several professional recorder players who might be able to help.

I shall await your contact.
