I was editing a large score using the Text Tool to add a1 and a2 as necessary for clarity in the horn parts.  Finale dutifully showed a cursor pointing to which stave the text would appear on and the markings showed up on the parts. Then I did some other tinkering. When I returned to the Text Tool the pointing cursor was gone. The text appeared quite large and didn't show up on the parts. I had to go through and use the attributes to get the text to attach to a certain stave in a specific bar. Why this change in behavior of the text tool?

Unsure. What were you tinkering with?

(Please also take the opportunity to include your version of Finale and Computer OS while you are answering the above. It may help us deduce what you experienced.)

Probably better to use the Expression Tool than the text tool for a due and a primo marks. (Sorry if my Italian is off,  but I assume you were not talking about supplementary rehearsal marks.)

Tinkering around just moving hair pins, dynamics, etc. You're right though - I should be using the Expression Tool for this. Didn't think about that. Thanks!
