Please create a more intuitive method of creating tempo changes. The current method through midi tool is not as effective or there would be less complaining about this feature. Been with finale for 20yrs. Who was consulted about changing tempo tool. Was an actual musician, composer asked about this. The fact that I am spending this this time writing this demonstrates my frustration. I should be spending time with my music. Please simplify this process. If you need some ideas consider how the competition accomplishes it then make it better. I know this is easier said than done. Creating a tempo change in Expression tool only works for a measure. This is a basic concept.

Hi Luis:

Thank you for posting your request and your use of Finale for 20 years. I have added your comments to the story around improved control of the tempo in Finale (FIN-4344). To answer your question: Yes, many musicians were consulted on the old tempo tool's functionality as well as the voluntary data analytics we gather from users.

I will go a step farther than Luis.

I have also used Finale for about 20 years. I just got the most recent update, 25.4.1. I went to put in a tempo change in a piece and the little metronome icon that was so easy is no longer in the tool bar. I have looked every place I can think of and can't find how to do it. If I type "tempo change" or "change tempo" in the help search, it says no items are found.

And... I wrote in last week to tech help about creating tuplets where there had been the option+number of tuplet shortcut before and was told that writing in for technical support is "break and fix" only. This leaves me in the dark, honestly. I understand that you guys must get a lot of basic questions, but the help search has always been "touchy" (you have to know exact wording or you don't find anything), and this basic stuff that was always out in the open or survived generations of the program is now gone.

On a Windows machine it is CTRL+number-for-tuplet, so I am assuming you'd want CMD rather than OPT on a Mac.

The shortcut to the (Speedy Entry) Tuplet (sub-)Tool is Option-Number in Mac Finale.

The shortcut has been Option-Number for quite many Mac Finale version, and it still is Option-Number in the latest Mac Finale version.

Hi Lawrence:

Thank you for posting to this thread and expressing your ideas. I've duly noted your concerns. Kudos to Adrian and Peter for the assist on the Tuplet keyboard shortcuts. I would also add that we continue to update the documentation and are working to make it easier to find items and in sync with the current version. Thank you for your use of the product all these years.

Cheers,

Does this mean the Playback Settings button has been removed? I use it OFTEN to fix a measure I can't get just right. I also have to adjust it a number of times early in the transcription to set it right. If I do no intentional work with MIDI myself, can I still use the menu option? I don't know if / where MIDI is used as a default, but I never choose it for anything.

And why does the button or menu have ANYTHING to do with the playback? How you choose your options has NOTHING to do with how it the options are used. I was a software developer for 20 years and a Software QA mgr for 10 years. I know the difference between programming / saving menu choices and how those choices are programmed to be used.

I have upgraded to the new version and to my horror the old tempo change tool is gone.  I am not a musician and don't use the midi feature but help our choir with creating better copies of copyright paid music we use and now I have a piece that was created in the older version that has a slower set of bars that I am trying to change the tempo of and have been through the several areas of the 'help' menus and find them thoroughly confusing and actually don't work on what I want to do with the one or two bars.  I wish I hadn't upgraded and wasted my money!  Why don't you give us the option of using what obviously some of you prefer and that old tempo tool surely it can't be that difficult to manage and would give you a lot of kudos since there are a lot of complaints about it's disappearance.
