I would like to request a way to save multiple Edit Filter templates, to be recalled easily through the dialog box. I often find myself wanting to copy/paste different sets of items and it's very clunky to re-adjust the filter every time.

Dear Fredrik:

Thank you for posting your request. I agree filters are very powerful but rather cumbersome in their current state. Kudos to Jeremy for recommending the use of automation such as Auto-hotkeys on Windows or Keyboard Maestro for Mac to script repetitive tasks. Your comments have been added to FIN-5457, the story in our backlog on the topic. I do look forward to us enhancing copying of elements in Finale.

You can do this very easily with a macro program. I have macros setup for just about every filter selection I use all the time.

Very good idea. I was just about to request this.

Perhaps a few buttons on the edit filter box, to save configurations.

But also, I just saw all the "alt-" shortcuts (it has only taken how many years for me to see these?). Already these are faster than clicking, and of course, AutoHotKey can use these.

I have wanted this feature for ages. At the very least, it would be nice if the filter retained the last settings entered until they were altered. This way you could go back and forth between copying everything and only what the filter settings indicated by turning the filter on and off.

I thought the Filters did maintain their state, at least until one closed the file.

Thanks J. I believe there was a problem earlier that a tech support person at Finale acknowledged about the edit filter retaining the filter state. I thought it still happened every now and then but I went back I tried to recreate the problem but I couldn't so I must have been doing something wrong. I also wanted the ability save multiple Edit Filter Templates but the Keyboard Maestro for Mac looks like a great alternative.

Great advice from all of you. Thanks again
