When I have worked with a daw like cubase in between 2 finale sessions, finale isn't able to play the sound. I have to press Reset Rewire, go to blue tooth settings, switching my headphones off and on, start finale again and the it works again. Isn't there a way to let finale always remember and claim it's audio settings?

I don't know what is happening exactly so my description is probably not perfect ;)

Is it possible that Cubase (or your DAW) is resetting the sample rate on your computer from 44.1K to 48K (or vice versa) or is grabbing exclusive control of your sound card?

This is a Support issue. On the Mac, it was resolved with 25.3 or 25.4. We have no idea what version or OS you are running.

Thanks guys. I'm using windows 10 (64 bit) on an imac. I'm using several sample rates in cubase, but even then I guess it should be nice if finale set it back to it's own preferred sample rate when starting the program.

I don't think that's ever going to happen—again. Finale used to impose its own 44.1 sample rate which caused massive conflicts with other apps that imposed their own. My only workaround was to quit all other audio apps and reboot before I could launch Finale, then quit Finale and reboot before launching (in my case it was Dragon Dictation and Digital Performer). Although I could run DP at 44.1, DD changed System Audio to 48 and there was nothing I could do about it.

Following System Audio was a longtime Feature Request that was implemented in Finale 25.3 along with MusicXML 3.1. I believe that the vast majority of users would scream if that were to go away.

I'm using several sample rates in cubase…

You may have created your own little hell with that. Most DAWs have a setting that allows them to ignore System Audio. It would surprise me if Cubase (at least the Pro versions) did not have also have that ability. DP now follows it unless you uncheck a box telling it to be ignored—updates re-check that box (grrrr). With Finale talking to my DAW through Rewire, it's important that both be open simultaneously.

Then there's the audio drivers conflict that always seems to need sorting out in Windows. In any case, it looks like Cubase is the source of your issue. Once you get it to ignore System Audio, you should be fine.

Thanks Mike, for this information. I didn't know they already tried to tackle this problem in the past. I will try this ignore system audio solution.

I can imagine if this would be a big problem for many finale users one could think of solutions like using a special external soundcard (which you have in the size of a usb-stick nowadays), or a device in between computer and a potential external soundcard that the user might have, and link it exclusively to finale, or some extra program that gives the user the possibility to manage soundcard settings and drivers, which would be a not a finale product.
