Windows 10 laptop. Finale 26.3.1.520.

I'm notating a choral piece with piano accompaniment. There is also a piano reduction of the choral parts for rehearsal purposes. The vocal and piano parts are grouped separately. At this tempo change the soprano Is are singing a separate part from the soprano IIs, thus their lyrics are placed above the staff. When I place the tempo change the placement of the tempo marking is linked to the tempo marking above the piano parts group. Is there a way to separate them? When I place the upper tempo marking above the lyrics on the vocal parts group the placement for the lower staff is just below the bass part. I'd like to place that tempo marking closer to the piano group. Any ideas?

If I understand you correctly, you can not move one tempo mark up/down without, also moving the other - right?

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce your problem.

When I move the lower tempo mark, the upper tempo mark stays put, without moving.

I can also move it horizontally, if necessary.

Please specify your steps for moving the tempo mark.

- Are you moving it with the mouse, or by typing numbers in the dialog box Expression Assignment?

- Are you moving the upper tempo mark, or the lower tempo mark?

Hi Peter,

This is very confusing. I'm using the mouse to move the tempo indication. They are locked together on both my computers (I have a Mac in my studio and a Windows laptop). It doesn't matter which one I move, they both move. The fact is when I put the tempo indication in it appeared in both spots and I can't delete just one. I just tried the expression assignment dialog box. If I edit the vertical placement it affects both. I created the tempo mark in the expression tool and it is not a tempo alteration, but a tempo marking (Allegro quarter = 126).

If I move the upper expression, they both move.

If I move the lower expression, the upper expression does not move.

Take a look at the Score List for the category Tempo Marks.

What is selected in the column for Score?
