With the advent of Finale 27 announced, I wanted to renew my request for Capo Chords with Parenthesis that I have been asking about for around 10 years now. I write and rescore music along with another parishioner for my church. EVERY church music publisher that I utilize uses bold capo chords with parenthesis around them. That includes the three major Catholic music publishers, OCP (Oregon Catholic Press), GIA Publications, and WLP (World Library Publications).

Here is a sample from one of them:

I have seen several other people also request this with no response. I did get a response from Michael Johnson about 4 years ago assigning it FIN-4343 and have heard nothing since with repeated requests for updates on this feature.

Is this included in Finale 27? If not, is it even on the feature timeline anymore? If not, can we get it added? With the abundance of published music that utilizes this, I would think this feature would have a higher priority.

Thank You,

John Fulton

Michael has been gone for a few years, and anything he said has to be forgotten. And it's too bad, because even if he could do nothing, at least he made us feel like someone was listening. No more.

In the meantime, have you considered either the Text Tool, or creating a library of Expressions with your most-used chords?

Not ideal, but it's something...

I utilize the Text Tool mostly which will allow me to enter them in, but if we decide to transpose, then you have to manually go back and edit all the chords which leaves room for human error. For a program as powerful as Finale which already has a Capo feature, you think you could add the ability to format bold instead of italic and add parenthesis. It astounds me that after 10 years, countless posts and tickets with support and all I get are manual workarounds.
