You solved a problem for me last month, but now something else has come up which I can’t work out.
I’m recording with Reaper, using an M-Audio Keystation49 as my MIDI input device. This is working fine with my other VSTi’s.
It also works fine with Aria Ensembles. When I load an Ensemble into Aria, adding it as an FX to a MIDI track, Reaper will split it into 16 tracks, one for each channel, and I can play and record any of the instruments on its own track using the Keystation.
However, when I load a single instrument into Aria, the Keystation is silent. It gives a midi signal (not audio) in the Reaper track, and will actually record midi data on that track. But the track plays back silently.
Meanwhile, Aria’s own virtual keyboard produces sounds – and an audio signal in the track – but doesn’t record anything!
Reaper’s virtual keyboard works both ways: it both produces the sounds, and will record data which plays back with the sounds.
I have asked this question on the Reaper forum – no reply yet - but it seems like it’s more of an issue with Aria (and/or the keyboard) than with Reaper’s routing. Unless Reaper's routing needs changing for this special scenario (Aria player with one instrument)?
I’m guessing it’s a simple solution, and I may kick myself, but what do you suggest I try?
Regards
Jon Riley
