Hi, FinMac 27.3 macOS 12.6.1

I have a courtesy accidental in Viola Part at top of page in Score. However, in Viola Part, the courtesy accidental is not needed. If I try to not show the accidental (hide) in the Part, it also not shows in the Score, ie changing the note accidental status changes both Score and Part. Any suggestions?

Experimented since I posted and answered my own question...in Articulation tool, I chose the paranthesised accidentals as part of Finale Maestro's Unicode palette to attach them to the notes and used Show/Hide in Score/Parts as required....

I have encountered the problem you describe multiple times for transposing instruments : an accidental is needed in the score, but not in the part.

Hide it in the part and it disappears in the score, as you describe, which a source of errors.

MakeMusic should address this, for instance offering a way to unlink the accidentals (and uncheck Show in the part).

For this reason...

• The score before revising accidentals will be usable in Concert Pitch.

• I make a copy or the score, adjust the accidentals. I use this score in the transposed display only, not in Concert key, because it will include missing accidentals.

P.S. : I'm glad you found a workaround, but MakeMusic should something about this.

Hi Michel, yes as you say it's a very common/ordinary issue that occurs frequently and MakeMusic should create a menu item. The workaround you outline works for you and probably don't change it. However, there is a problem where you say "hide it in the part and it disappears in the score"

I would advise to do the it very carefully and in certain sequence.

First scenario, want a courtesy accidental in the Score but hidden in the Part:

• Score: make sure that any accidental is not shown in front of the note. Attach Articulation tool paranthised accidental in front of the note where you want it, then Unlink the Articulation;

• Part: select the visible Articulation and choose right-click mouse to Hide;

• check the Score to make sure

Second scenario, want a courtesy accidental in the Part but hidden in the Score:

• Score: make sure that any accidental is not shown in front of the note. Attach Articulation tool paranthised accidental in front of the note where you want it, then Unlink & Hide the Articulation;

• Part: select the visible Articulation and place as required;

• check the Score to make sure

I hope this helps, cheers Claudio
