I just purchased Garritan JABB and want to use the instruments in Musescore. Musescore 4 supports vst3 only. However after installation of Garritan JABB I only see VST2 on the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files.
Please advise.

Maybe ask the MuseScore people?

The 1.959 version of ARIA Player does come with a VST3 plug-in, though it's a bit limited, as it only has a single stereo output channel.

Newer versions are for Mac only, and include completely functional VST3 plug-ins.

So, if you have the latest version of ARIA, you should have a VST3 plug-in; but you'll need to ask MakeMusic to bring the Windows version up to parity with the Mac version.

If you've just installed JABB, then you may have installed an older version of ARIA than current.

On Windows...

You might have luck with a free utility called Kushview Element. It should allow you to host a VST2 plugin inside a VST3 host.

I've personally been using Bidule to do this job and whole lot more. In plugin form it's not free though. One of the best plugin investments I've ever made, but it might be overkill for your needs.

When you first load the newest version of MuseScore 4+. Did the software scan all of your plugins? Mine came up with a pop up box saying 12000 of 200000 searched.

When you first installed Garritan d8d you make sure that the tick box for VST 3 was included?

If not you might have to reinstall..

The problem I have is that I have a main library on my D drive where the majority of my plugins are stored. But some software regardless of telling the software to upload to the D Drive uploads i will more often than not install on the C drive to the VST Plugin folder. On my C drive I have the steinberg Cubase folder with the VST 2 and 3 folders. I also have them where the other providers have stuck them on the hard drive. I just round them up every know and then and place them in the folder on my D Drive. I then rerun the VST updater and it will find the files. If the files are not recognised I then put those back to where they came from. As to using VST 3 in MuseScore I haven’t tried it yet but your question might be better off if it was also added to the MuseScore furum as well. Someone will probably have the answer there. But check the vst 3 folder first in what ever drives the software has put them. Then bring them together under the same folder on the same drive. Then run the VST updater. Next open MuseScore and see if the VST plugin shows up on the MuseScore VST3 scan. Hope th8s helps. Sorry can’t help on the vst3 in MuseScore.
