Hi,

I use Finale with both Windows and Mac (latest versions both OS and Finale). One thing I like more in Windows version is playback controls and how it's positioned. In Mac you have to open it from menu but in Windows it's one of the palettes. This works much better and it's easier available when needed. Would it be possible to change this in Mac version with upcoming versions?

Thanks for great application anyway!

I am not sure what you mean by your words “how it's positioned”.

Do you mean “where it's positioned” - or do you mean something else?

Anyway, try this (Mac Finale v27):

1) Window menu > Playback Controls (check mark)

The check mark means that the window {Playback Controls} is displaying on the screen.

2) Move the Playback Controls to the position you prefer (can be anywhere on the screen).

3) File menu > Save Preferences

From now on, every time you launch Finale, the Playback Controls will be open, and in the position you prefer.

At least that is how it works for me.

In Windows, the palettes are fixed or docked. On a Mac, they float. Otherwise, they are identical.

It is possible to have the Playback window always present on the Mac but not possible for it to be docked a lá Windows. No one knows why and this Feature Request (floating from Win users or fixed/docking from Mac users) has been made for decades. This discussion is from ten years ago—subject wasn't new then, either.

Thanks for replies! Mike: Yes I ment exactly that docked window. I think best solution could be that you could choose whether you want it to be docked or not. Well, I have a dream 😊

There are too many discussions about which is best. I agree that the ideal solution would be a Preference setting in both Mac and Windows.

Well, I have a dream

Many users share that dream.
