Hello Everybody,

I know when Finale dropped the native video support, this topic was discussed to death, and the only (at the time) option was to use ReWire with a DAW running your video file if you wanted to compose to picture.

Since that time, I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for either linking Finale to Premiere Pro or a standalone video playback program like Telestream Switch?

I still have my copy of Finale 2012 that I use if I need to write to picture, but I'm hoping that ONE DAY I'll be able to benefit from the amazing visual updates found in my copy of Finale 27, while also being able to do my job.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Although I can link 27 to Digital Performer or Logic Pro through IAM (inter application MIDI) and use QuickTime there, I’ve never tried this with Premiere and don’t know if it could be done. Since Adobe has support for MIDI controllers, I suspect it can be.

Maybe an idea...I read about VidPlayMTC on another forum. One loads a video into this external program, and Finale can control the video playback. Explanation in this YouTube video :

Thank you very much for that - I'll have to look into this for the future, and when I have time.  For now, I'll stick to ReWire, as I have a job due soon!

Sorry, Michel - I didn't see your comment as I first responded.  That looks brilliant!  I'll check that out right away, as it may be a solution to my problems!!

I haven't tested it. If you do and have some success, please give us some feedback.

Ah, shoot.  I got everything all set up and running, but unfortunately, while Finale DOES activate VidPlayMTC, because you have to enable "Play Finale Through MIDI" and then set the Midi output to the bus that goes directly into the video program, you wind up with a synced video playing (including the video audio) but no music coming from Finale.

Unless I've overlooked something silly, or you can have finale send output to two different places, I think we've hit another roadblock.

I suppose I could match "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" to the other output.  I may just have to suck it up, and deal with junky sounding early 90's MIDI if I want this to work.
