In using additional libraries, most use keyswitches. Instead of using the dump method (an arcane method from 1992 that doesn't work reliably), a key switch expression - either with a text field, bass clef, or a left edge piano - would be a welcome addition. This would save the lengthy and error-prone task of creating new classes of articulation, human playback, or both.

"Yes, and..."
IDEAL WORLD:

I'd love a Layer 5 just for keyswitch notes.  They don't print, they don't show up on the screen unless you tell them to, and they don't affect music spacing, so you can put them rhythmically in tight places.   AND, you can route their output to any/all of the other 4 layers in the measure (for me, that means being able to use different guitar VSTs to play back in a single staff, for a player who changes guitars and/or effects mid-song)

Mike - thanks; I have no problem with Garritan; it's when I use other libraries and try to use the "dump" method that everything goes haywire. One or two work, then Finale just stops even trying. I can export (every dang track!) to midi and do some heavy lifting in a daw (after deleting 21 tracks). I realize every library has it's own idiosyncracies, and just having some sort of facility in every voice or layer to add that D#0 to a piccolo part would be very helpful.
