The same thing happens on my computer while using Audio Units or Trough Midi

Not enough information. How did you create these files? Did you import anything such as another doc, MIDI or MusicXML? It all makes a difference.

In this case, it doesn’t seem to matter how the file was created. I initially noticed it with an older file, but I can replicate that behaviour with a newly created file. Either created with a new default document or with the Setup Wizard.

Here’s how to reproduce it:

1. Create a simple piano staff and enter some music
2. Go to the MIDI/Audio menu and chose “Play Finale Through MIDI”
3. Go to the MIDI/Audio menu and chose “Device Setup”> “Audio Setup” and set the “Output buffer size” at 32
4. Start playback and it will play faster than the tempo
5. Stop playback
6. Go to the MIDI/Audio menu and chose “Device Setup”> “Audio Setup” and set the “Output buffer size” at 1024
7. Start playback and it will play at the right tempo

Note that my friend Odile, who commented above, said that it will behave like that even with “Audio Units” selected on her computer. In my case, I play that file with an external synth plugged in a MIDI interface. So, audio buffer size should not have any impact on this.

I cannot duplicate your issue. I run all my buffers at 32. You’re running Sonoma. If not macOS 14.1.1, run the Software Update and reboot.

27.3 is not compatible with Sonoma. If you have not updated Finale to 27.4, released yesterday, do so.

Thanks for your input. I already had Sonoma 14.1.1 and Finale 27.4.

The Sonoma 14.1.2 update dropped this morning — more bug fixes though, as usual, Apple isn't giving a full list.
