When I change clefs from one measure to another, all is fine as long as I leave the standard notation of the new clef showing before the barline. But sometimes (clef change after a repeat, for example), I tell Finale to put the new clef AFTER the barline.

Unfortunately, in this situation, Finale continues to leave a space for the new clef in the previous measure and nothing I have tried (updating the Note Spacing, nor using JW Note Spacing Plugin etc) will fix this.

Manual spacing adjustments are a nuisance because Finale removes them constantly.

In Measure Attributes check Extra Space at End and insert a (small) negative value (-0.5 or such, you'll want to experiment a bit). Automatic or manual music spacing will keep that space in place.

I have used a setting of about -0.17 for bass clef "after barline" corrections - seems to work well.

I'm curious how you got the thin lines in your forward/backward repeat to have different spacing?  I've never found a setting that could do that....

Thanks Michael and Doug but strangely, it's not doing anything when I insert that negative space at the end of the measure, even though I previously activated Automatic Music Spacing and Automatic Update Layout in the Edit-Preferences and then also tried to Update Note Spacing with Alt-L-M-N.

That is a mystery to me .........

Works for me. Are you sure you have inserted the value AND checked the box, then OK? Can you post these few bars, or a link to a dropbox file so that someone can take a look?

Yes - inserted the negative value (tried a few from -0.1 to -20 !), and checked the box and then OK - nothing ! Not even in other files of mine, including my template files.

Not sure how to upload the measures in finale.mus format rather than graphic format. Simple ?

Also, Doug, I have no idea how those repeat barlines have this spacing - definitely didn't do that on purpose !!

Yes, this (Finale!) forum doesn't let you upload Finale files (very clever .... ) if you can, somehow upload a link to a Finale file (not a graphic) somewhere. Don't really know how to do it, but people often use Dropbox for this.
