Thank you all for your helpful comments and suggestions. I had, in fact, tried most of these, sadly without success as yet.The piece on which I am working is for SATB choir with piano accompaniment, being written in long score as it is polyphonic in nature. What is happening is that the lyrics are appearing in page view at unacceptable places, such as within the piano part or way above the stave. When I correct these faults on page view, it is then right for the page upon which I am working; however, upon moving to the next page and working on that, i find that the part I had just corrected reverts to how it looked before. Will I have to print one page at a time, then move on? That will be very laborious in a piece with up to twenty pages.

Further ideas from experts in this field would be very welcome

Did you find a resolution to your issue? I am having the same problems...I have entered the polyphonic vocal music onto 4 staves (sans accompaniment) but when I try to enter the lyrics they won't stay where I put them.

How do they change position? Horizontally? Vertically? Some other way?

(An annotated screenshot might help.)

The position is correct in relation to the staves but the words change. I have tried using different 'verses', tried typing into score as well as clicking into score, but by the time I get to the end of the piece the words at the beginning have been jumbled up. I was entering the lyrics in page view.

Sorry, I can't provide a screen shot at this time. Later tonight I could.

It would probably be best to enter all your lyrics/words into the Lyric Tool Edit window and click assign them until you get the hang of the quirky intricacies of the Lyric Tool. Going back and forth can displace lyrics already on the score. Syllables are not fixed to notes; rather syllable positions in the Edit window are associated with notes and note positions. Inserting or removing syllables into a lyric can shift existing syllables backwards or forwards in the document.

Would that the system were more intuitive; it has a logic of its own, which can be disconcerting even after one understands it.
